Whitney Avenue intersects Ives Street (CT 22) at a traffic light. Immediately after this intersection, there is an interchange with the Mount Carmel Connector (CT 40), which has its northern terminus here.

Whitney Avenue intersects Dixwell Avenue at a traffic light. Turn right to stay on CT 10. Turn left for SR 717/Truck CT 22. Whitney Avenue continues straight ahead as SR 707.

Dixwell Avenue runs south through Hamden as a four-lane undivided road.

Dixwell Avenue goes down to two lanes for a narrow overpass. Originally a railroad overpass, it is now part of the Farmington Canal Greenway, a bike path from New Haven, CT, to Northampton, MA.

Ella T. Grasso Boulevard intersects Derby Avenue (CT 34) at a traffic light. Turn right to go west on CT 34. Eastbound CT 34 is multiplexed with southbound CT 10 along Ella T. Grasso Boulevard straight ahead.

Ella T. Grasso Boulevard intersects North Frontage Road (CT 34) and Legion Avenue (CT 34) at a pair of traffic lights. Turn left at the second light for CT 34 eastbound. Continue straight ahead on Ella T. Grasso Boulevard for CT 10 southbound.
