In Portland, CT 17 turns east from Main Street onto Marlborough Street. Main Street continues north as CT 17A.

After about three miles, Main Street ends at a stop sign and flasher at CT 17. Turn left onto Glastonbury Turnpike to go north or right onto Gospel Lane to go south.
