SR 533 is a northern extension of Bolton Center Road (CT 85) north of New Bolton Road (US 6/US 44) and Boston Turnpike (US 6/US 44) in Bolton. Bolton Center Road changes names at this intersection to become Cider Mill Road, which runs north for about half a mile to end at Lake Street. SR 533 turns north onto Lake Street and follows it to Tunnel Road, which takes its name from a one-lane tunnel under old railroad tracks that have been converted into a hiking trail. North of the tunnel, there is an interchange with the Wilbur Cross Highway (I-84). Then, Tunnel Road ends at Hartford Turnpike (CT 30).
