US 13 splits into a pair of parallel one-way streets. Southbound traffic follows South Heald Street, while northbound traffic follows New Castle Avenue.

Skipping a couple of miles, there is an interchange with I-295, which ends one exit from here at I-95 and I-495.

US 13 follows DE 1 south for one exit and then follows Wrangle Hill Road (DE 72) to Dupont Parkway, on which it turns south.

The St. Georges Bridge carries Dupont Parkway over the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal. There is one lane in each direction for motor vehicles, as well as a bike lane.

On the other side of the bridge, Dupont Parkway widens to four lanes again. There is a traffic light at Hyatts Corner Road.

Boyds Corner Road (DE 896) begins on the right at a traffic light. Turn left onto Pole Bridge Road for an entrance to DE 1.
