MD 193 is a major east/west route through the suburbs to the north of Washington, DC. It begins at Connecticut Avenue (MD 185) in Kensington. The first section is a large divided highway called University Boulevard. It runs east and then southeast, crossing the Capital Beltway (I-495) at exit 29. It continues southeast and east to College Park, where there is a grade-separated interchange with Baltimore Avenue (US 1). Shortly thereafter, University Boulevard merges with Greenbelt Road, which is designated MD 430 for a short distance to the west. Greenbelt Road runs east, passing through interchanges with Kenilworth Avenue (MD 201) and the Baltimore-Washington Parkway (MD 295). Between these two interchanges, Greenbelt Road crosses the Capital Beltway (I-95/I-495), but there is no interchange.

Coming into Glenn Dale, Greenbelt Road crosses Lanham Severn Road (MD 564) and changes names to become Glenn Dale Boulevard. It curves to the south. As it crosses Annapolis Road (MD 450), it changes names once again to become Enterprise Road. The divided highway ends at the point, and Enterprise Road narrows down to become a two-lane road. It crosses the John Hanson Highway (US 50), but there is no interchange. It changes names one last time upon crossing Central Avenue (MD 214) to become Watkins Park Drive. After about another mile, it ends at Largo Road (MD 202) in Kettering.
