CR 508 is an east/west route extending from Livingston to Kearny. It begins at Mount Pleasant Avenue (NJ 10) and runs southeast for about a mile to South Livingston Avenue (Essex CR 649), where it becomes East Northfield Road. After another mile, it becomes Northfield Avenue. A few miles to the east in West Orange, CR 508 splits off from Northfield Avenue onto Whittingham Place, which it follows for one block before turning south onto Kingsley Street, which after a few blocks merges into Valley Road. CR 508 then turns east again onto Central Avenue, which it follows to Newark. There, Central Avenue ends at Broad Street. CR 508 follows Park Place and Center Street to the McCarter Highway (NJ 21). CR 508 is multiplexed with NJ 21 for a few blocks to the north before splitting off onto Bridge Street, which crosses the Passaic River to Harrison and then changes name to become Harrison Avenue. In Kearny, Harrison Avenue becomes Newark-Jersey City Turnpike. It has an interchange with I-280 and passes under the New Jersey Turnpike (I-95) with no interchange. About half a mile to the east, it ends at Belleville Turnpike (NJ 7).
