NJ 49 is the southernmost major east/west route in New Jersey. US 130 turns into NJ 49 at its southern terminus at the Delaware Memorial Bridge (I-295/US 40). It runs southeast through Salem to Bridgeton and then east through Millville to end at NJ 50 in Upper Township. It is a two-lane undivided road for most of its length, although it briefly widens to four lanes in some areas.
