US 22 is an east/west route extending from Cincinnati, Ohio, to Newark, New Jersey. It enters New Jersey on a small toll bridge across the Delaware River from Easton, Pennsylvania. It runs east through Phillipsburg and then cuts south until I-78. It is routed along I-78 from exit 3 in Phillipsburg to exit 18 in Annandale. For the remainder of its length, it runs south of and parallel to I-78, ending at the US 1/US 9 freeway in Newark. US 22 is a four- to six-lane divided highway with a combination of traffic lights and grade-separated interchanges. It is also known as the Blue Star Drive in honor of American soldiers.
