NJ 5 is a short east/west route connecting Broad Avenue (US 1/US 9) to the Edgewater Ferry Landing, from which there are commuter ferries to Manhattan. The eastern terminus is at River Road (CR 505) in Edgewater, directly across the street from the ferry landing. NJ 5 is a two- to four-lane undivided road with traffic lights. It follows a fairly winding route. There is a switchback near the eastern terminus.
