West 14 Street runs west as a four-lane undivided road. There are traffic lights with oversized street name signs at 6 Avenue, 7 Avenue, 8 Avenue, and 9 Avenue.

The section of West 14 Street between 9 Avenue and 10 Avenue is a cobblestone street. The High Line, an abandoned elevated railroad track that was converted into a park, passes over street. The short section of West 14 Street between 10 Avenue and 11 Avenue (NY 9A) is one-way in the opposite direction. To go south on NY 9A, turn left onto 10 Avenue, which ends at NY 9A just south of here. To go north, turn right onto 10 Avenue and then left onto West 15 Street.
