The ramps to the Long Island Expressway from the northbound and southbound lanes of the Cross Island Parkway merge together and then split. Bear left to get onto the expressway. Bear right for Douglaston Parkway.

A long ramp leads from exit 38 of the expressway to the Northern Parkway. There is a turnaround that all trucks are required to use, since they are not allowed on the parkway.

The ramp for exit 53 when travelling west merges with the service road. There are exits for Wicks Road (CR 7), the Sagtikos Parkway, and Commack Road (CR 4).

The ramp for exit 68 was constructed to be part of an unbuilt extension of the service road. There is a pair of exits for the William Floyd Parkway (CR 46), followed by an entrance back onto the expressway. The ramp ends ahead at an industrial park.
