After crossing the Cross Bronx Expressway (I-95), the Hutchinson Parkway becomes I-678. Exit 18 is for Ferry Point Park and Lafayette Avenue.

There is a cashless tolling gantry before the Whitestone Bridge.

The Whitestone Bridge crosses the East River from the Bronx to Queens.

On the Queens side of the bridge, I-678 is called the Whitestone Expressway. Exit 17 is for 14 Avenue. Exit 16 is for the Cross Island Parkway south.

Exit 15 is for 20 Avenue.

Exit 13A is for Astoria Boulevard west. Exits 13B-C are for the Grand Central Parkway. Exit 13D is for Northern Boulevard (NY 25A) west.

From this point on, I-678 is known as the Van Wyck Expressway. Exits 12A-B are for College Point Boulevard and the Long Island Expressway (I-495).

Construction work is in progress in this area to rebuild the Kew Gardens Interchange. Exit 8, which is for Queens Boulevard (NY 25) west, is currently closed. Exit 7 is for Union Turnpike west and the Jackie Robinson Parkway west.
