The original signage for the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge omitted the governor's middle initial. It was modified about a year later since Governor Andrew Cuomo decided that this was a good use of our tax dollars.

These pictures show the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge as it appeared shortly after the southbound side was opened to traffic. The original Tappan Zee Bridge was visible on the right at the time. It has since been fully demolished. A bus lane has also been added on the right shoulder.
