A pedestrian bridge called the Unispan connects the north and south sections of the Hofstra University campus. Hempstead Turnpike intersects Oak Street at a traffic light.

The divider ends and NY 24 becomes a four-lane undivided road. The section in Hempstead is called Fulton Avenue. It is locally maintained by the NCDPW and designated NY 24/CR 107.

Skipping a few miles, 212 Street runs north through Queens. This is possibly the only place in New York City or on Long Island where there are stop signs on a state route. This section of NY 24 is unsigned.

212 Street ends at a traffic light at Hillside Avenue (NY 25). Turn right to go east or right to go west. The Clearview Expressway (I-295) begins straight ahead.
