Welcome to New York! PA 434 becomes NY 55 at the state line. Here, it is known as Brook Road. There is a flasher with a stop sign at NY 97. Turn left to go north or right to go south. Continue straight ahead to stay on NY 55, which is locally maintained as CR 11 beginning here.

Skipping many miles to the east, NY 55 splits off from US 44 to become a six-lane divided highway called Freedom Plains Road.

There is a pedestrian bridge carrying the Dutchess Rail Trail over Freedom Plains Road. Immediately thereafter, Overlook Road (CR 46) begins on the left.
