NY 6N is a short east/west route providing an alternative to US 6 to the north through Mahopac. It begins at US 6 in Jefferson Valley, at the very northern end of Westchester County. After a short distance, it crosses into Putnam County and runs northeast to Mahopac Falls. From there, it runs east along the south side of Lake Mahopac. It ends back at US 6. The entire length is a two-lane undivided road.
