I-376 is an L-shaped route through Pittsburgh and its suburbs. It is signed as an east/west route, even though a longer portion of the highway runs north and south than east and west. It begins at exit 4A of I-80, the first exit after entering Pennsylvania from Ohio. I-376 is known as the Beaver Valley Expressway and runs south. It crosses the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-76) at exit 10. Near Pittsburgh International Airport, it curves to the east and changes names to become the Penn-Lincoln Parkway. Despite the presence of the word "parkway" in its name, the Penn-Lincoln Parkway is an interstate and allows trucks.
Approaching Pittsburgh, the Penn-Lincoln Parkway passes through a mountain tunnel. It emerges from the tunnel directly onto the Fort Pitt Bridge, which carries the highway across the Monongahela River to Pittsburgh, just east to the point where the Monongahela River merges with the Allegheny River to form the Ohio River. The Penn-Lincoln Parkway runs along the Monongahela River through the center of the city and then continues east as the river curves to the south. It passes through another mountain tunnel and then continues east to end at another interchange with the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-76) at exit 57.
