I-78 begins at I-81 in Jonestown and runs east. Exit 6 is for Legionnaire Drive (PA 343).

William Penn Highway (US 22) merges in from the right. The two routes are multiplexed from here to Allentown. This is exit 8 on the westbound side, but there is no exit when travelling in this direction.
