New Jersey Turnpike, 12th Street, 14th Street, Holland Tunnel
Westbound Views
The turnpike extension ends here. There are exits for the mainline of the New Jersey Turnpike (I-95), as well as US 1/US 9 and US 22. Continue straight ahead to stay on I-78. Motorists who do not exit for the mainline of the turnpike are considered to be exiting the turnpike at exit 14, as is indicated by the signage. It is confusing to have to take a numbered exit to stay on an interstate when there isn't any multiplex, but this is New Jersey, so confusing signage isn't anything out of the ordinary here.

There is a tollbooth. All motorists who do not have E-ZPass must hand in their tickets and pay a toll depending on how far they have travelled on the turnpike.

From this point west, I-78 is a free expressway. The roadway splits into express lanes and local lanes. The express lanes provide access to only the most major exits, while the local lanes provide access to all exits. There are unnumbered exits for US 1/US 9 and Port Newark. There is access to NJ 21 and US 22 from US 1/US 9 south.
