Rising Sun Road begins at Rising Sun Bypass (US 1) and runs east as a two-lane undivided road.

Heading into the downtown area of Rising Sun, Rising Sun Road becomes Main Street.

There is a traffic light at Queen Street (MD 274). Turn right to go south.

Heading out of town, Main Street becomes Telegraph Road. There are uncontrolled intersections at Stevens Road, Pierce Road, Sylmar Road, and Wilson Road.

There is a traffic light at Chrome Road (MD 272). Turn left to go north or right to go south.

Telegraph Road continues east toward Fair Hill. There are uncontrolled intersections at Fairview Road, Middle Road, Hilltop Road, and Fair Hill Drive.

There is a traffic light at MD 213. Turn left onto Lewisville Road to go north or right onto Singerly Road to go south.

Telegraph Road continues to the east. There is an uncontrolled intersection at Gallaher Road.

Telegraph Road continues east to the border with Delaware. There are uncontrolled intersections at Little Egypt Road and Glen Road. At the state line, it becomes Nottingham Road (DE 273).
