I-684 is a north/south highway serving the northern areas of Westchester County. It begins at the Cross Westchester Expressway (I-287) in White Plains and extends north to NY 22 in Brewster, just north of I-84. There is also a connection to the Hutchinson Parkway about half a mile north of the southern terminus. I-684 serves to connect the highways of the New York City area to I-84 and is commonly used by motorists headed for points to the northeast, such as Danbury, Waterbury, Hartford, and Boston. Between exit 2 and exit 3, I-684 crosses the border into Greenwich, Connecticut, for about a mile. There are no entrances or exits in Connecticut, and the entire length of I-684 is maintained by the New York State DOT.
