Flatbush Avenue begins at the Marine Parkway Bridge and runs north through Floyd Bennett Field as a four-lane divided road.

Skipping a substantial distance to the north, there is a traffic circle at Grand Army Plaza. There is an exit on the right for Vanderbilt Avenue. Continue around the circle for Prospect Park West and Union Street.

Flatbush Avenue runs north through Brooklyn as a six-lane road. There are oversized street names at 8 Avenue, Sterling Place, Park Place, 7 Avenue, Saint Marks Avenue, 6 Avenue, Bergen Street, Dean Street, 5 Avenue, Atlantic Avenue, 4 Avenue, Livingston Street, Willoughby Street, and Myrtle Avenue.

Flatbush Avenue intersects Tillary Street at a traffic light with an oversized street name sign. Turn right for access to the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (I-278). Turn left for access to the Brooklyn Bridge. The Manhattan Bridge is straight ahead.
