West 14 Street begins at 11 Avenue (NY 9A) in Manhattan. The High Line, an abandoned elevated railroad track that was converted into a park, passes over the street. There are oversized street name signs at 10 Avenue and 9 Avenue. The section up until 9 Avenue is a cobblestone street.

West 14 Street runs east as a four-lane undivided road. There are oversized street name signs at 8 Avenue, 7 Avenue, and 6 Avenue.

West 14 Street intersects 5 Avenue at a traffic light with an oversized street name sign. West 14 Street changes names here to become East 14 Street.
