The transverse road ends here at Central Park West. When travelling in this direction, the exit from the transverse road is aligned with West 97 Street, which is straight ahead. To continue along West 96 Street, turn left onto Central Park West and then turn right at the first traffic light. Small signs direct motorists heading toward the Henry Hudson Parkway (NY 9A) to do just that.

After the overpass, West 96 Street ends at the Henry Hudson Parkway (NY 9A). In a somewhat unusual interchange, the ramp that West 96 Street becomes passes next to the northbound lanes of the parkway. Motorists wishing to travel north can change lanes onto the parkway. Motorists wishing to go south can continue along the ramp, which then curves around and passes under the parkway before merging with the southbound lanes.
