Northbound Views

NY 97 and NY 42 begin at US 6/US 209 in Port Jervis. The two routes are multiplexed for their first couple of miles. The first section is known as West Main Street. It begins as a two-lane divided road, but the median ends after a couple of blocks.

The road splits at a flasher. West Main Street splits off to the left to become a local street. Bear right onto Park Avenue to stay on NY 42/NY 97.

There is an uncontrolled intersection with High Road (CR 41). Turn right to go north. Turn left for a one-lane bridge over the Delaware River to Pennsylvania. The signage makes it look like CR 41 begins here, but it actually continues halfway across the bridge to the state line.

There is a flasher at Brook Road (NY 55). Turn right to go east, in which direction it is multiplexed with CR 11. Turn left to go west across the Delaware River to Pennsylvania, where it becomes PA 434.

Welcome to the Village of Hancock! Here, NY 97 is known as Stockport Road. The speed limit drops to 30 MPH at the village line.

There is a bridge over the East Branch of the Delaware River. On the other side, Stockport Road ends at a stop sign at East Front Street. Turn left to stay on NY 97. NY 268 begins on the right.

There is a traffic light at Read Street. Turn right to stay on NY 97. Continue straight ahead on East Front Street for access to the bridge to Pennsylvania and PA 191.
