Exit 40 is for the Delaware Expressway (I-295) east. I-95 splits off to the right, while the Delaware Expressway continues straight ahead as I-295.

The roadway gradually curves to the east and merges with the Pennsylvania Turnpike, which is designated I-276 west of here.
