Skipping north to Southfields, Orange Turnpike continues north as a four-lane undivided road. After a short distance, Orange Turnpike splits off to the left to become CR 19. There is no signage for the split. Continue straight ahead to stay on NY 17.

Welcome to Harriman! NY 17 narrows down to two lanes. Here, it is known as Averell Avenue.

Averell Avenue widens to four lanes. There is a traffic light at Evergreen Road and Commerce Drive South. Turn left onto Evergreen Road for access to River Road and Maher Lane.

There is an entrance to the Long Mountain Parkway (US 6) east.

There is a diverging diamond interchange with the Quickway (NY 17/Future I-86). The northbound and southbound lanes cross over each other twice at traffic lights so that traffic passes through the interchange on the left side of the road. Exit to the right before the first traffic light to go east toward the New York Thruway (I-87). To stay on NY 17, exit to the left after the first traffic light to go west on the Quickway. NY 32 begins straight ahead.

The Quickway takes on the NY 17 designation one exit west of its eastern terminus at the New York Thruway (I-87). US 6 merges in after a short distance. There is a Future I-86 sign to indicate that the Quickway will be redesignated I-86 once it is upgraded to meet interstate standards.
